Each month Smithway recognizes one company driver or independent contractor as Driver of the Month. To be selected, a driver or contractor must be nominated by a terminal manager or agent, make the minimum qualifying revenue of $11,000, be accident-free and moving-violation free for the revenue month, and average six miles per gallon in fuel mileage. Drivers receive a gold watch, recognition in hometown newspaper and are in the running for Driver of the Year.
Annually, the Company Driver of the Year receives a “specially-designated driver of the year truck” to operate throughout SMX employment among other awards. We also select one Independent Contractor Driver of the Year who receives a generous “free fuel” award.
